2012 Temple Tour Update

Nov. 11, 2012

In addition to the temple tour itinerary outlined in the informative presentation, we are excited to announce that Amma Sri Karunamayi will also be guiding participants to the town of Bhadrachalam in the State of Andhra Pradesh on the banks of the river Godavari. The Bhadrachalam Temple where the presiding deity is Lord Sri Rama is an important place of pilgrimage for Hindus and is considered to be one of the greatest holy shrines in South India with a very rich and unique historical background. The present town is situated in an area, which once formed part of the Dandakaranya forest, said to be visited by Sri Rama, Sita and Lakshmana during their exile (vanavasam). The jungle in the vicinity of the temple was the actual site of Sri Rama's retreat and it was at the Parnasala (32 km from here) that he built a hut for himself and Sita and from where Sita was abducted by Ravana.
